Situation on the market

Currently there are several fluorescence and luminescence immunoassays, as well as immuoturbidimetric assays available for PCT.

Various publications mention bias among the different assays. This is mainly due to matrix effects, different antibodies etc.

Lack of standardization causes high variability of results of all manufacturers, within the same method and even within the same manufacturer. As stated in many publications, a higher-order reference material for PCT is highly necessary. [23-27]

IFCC Working Group PCT

DiaSys is a member of the IFCC Working Group on PCT standardization (30 members in total; 16 scientists and 14 company representatives).

Goal of the IFCC Working group:
Develop and validate a reference measurement procedure for absolute PCT quantification by Stable Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry.
